A new community of practice, the Food Security and Nutrition (FSN) Network has been launched. The FSN Network is an open community of practice of food security and nutrition implementers, designed to encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration across organizations for improved, high-quality and effective food security interventions.

FSN Network Global Task Forces in Agriculture and NRM, Nutrition and Food Technology, Gender Integration, Social and Behavioral Change, Monitoring and Evaluation and Knowledge Management provide an opportunity for sharing information, shaping agendas, learning about and influencing donor priorities, building consensus on best practices and working to diffuse technical knowledge. Additionally there are regional interest groups that allow field-based practitioners to join together using remote technology to share experiences, seek recommendations, and strengthen capacity in cross-cutting and emerging implementation areas. For more information on these global task forces and regional interest groups please click here.

The FSN Network also holds regular technical knowledge sharing meetings for implementers. The most recent was held in Maputo, Mozambique from September 19-23. To learn more about the FSN Network 2011 Fall Meeting click here.To learn more about the FSN Network 2011 Spring Meeting please click here.

This website, foodsecuritynetwork.org, will be relaunched in Fall 2011 as the web portal for the FSN Network, and will serve as the foundation for the FSN Network's knowledge sharing activities. The portal will serve as the site of collaborative workspaces for technical task forces, discussion across a wide variety of stakeholder chosen topics and a resource library of guides, training materials and tools developed or used by the FSN Network community.

The FSN Network is being spearheaded by TOPS, a USAID/FFP funded program seeking to build the capacity of FFP grantees and other food security and nutrition implementers. The program is working to improve the quality of implementation through fostering collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing around food security and nutrition best practices.
